We all follow the rules of English months.
We work by looking at the calendar.
At the end of the month, we take a salary or pay salary also by looking at this English month calendar.
Have you ever wanted to know where and how the rule of this month came from?
Today we will know how this English month started. First Life on Earth:
Origin of English month names:
The name of the first month of the year is January. The name comes from the Roman god Janus or Janus in English.
This bearded deity has two faces.
The name February comes from the Roman festival called Februum. Again, the name of March comes from Mars, the Roman god of war.
The month of April derives its call from the Latin phrase aperire. Which means open.
Perhaps this is the name given to the appearance of flowers at this time when the crops are harvested.
The Anglo-Saxons named this month Easter. The month of May originates from the Roman goddess Maia.
As far as the month of June is known, it got its name from Junius, the goddess of heaven.
Note: All Name Karan information is compiled from Wall Street.
You will have to check. There may be some inconsistencies in wording.
The month of July is known after the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar.
Who played a major role in the revision of the calendar. August is from the Roman Emperor Augustus.
The call September comes from the Latin word ‘septum’. Which means seventh. Again, the name of the month of October comes from the Latin word akta.
Which means standing ostomy.
November came from Novem. Finally, the month of December comes from the Latin word ‘desem’.
The names of these last four months were months according to their complementary numbers before the calendar revision.
We know so far. I got an idea. Someone else can also additionally have a special opinion on this.
Now let’s come to the English name of seven days, so I know how it arose in the world:
The seven days of the week have different names. This seven-day naming has a history.
These seven days of the week are named after the ancient Greeks. Let’s find out how the name Satdin came about.
SATURN:
In ancient Roman times, the people of the Roman Empire believed that there was a god of agriculture called Saturn.
To appease Saturn they named a day called Satajeez, which means Saturn day. Now that day has become Saturday.
Sunday:
In ancient times the people of southern Europe believed that a god was a ball of light in the sky.
The Latin name for this ball of light was Solis. People named a day after him. Deis Solis means Day of the Sun.
Northern Europeans used to call Sanendez, which is now Sunday.
Monday:
Ancient Southern Europeans saw silver balls in the night sky.
They now name a day from its name Luna and its Latin equivalent, luna dais. Much later,
people in Northern Europe called this day Menendez. What we now know as Monday.
Tuesday:
Ancient Europeans believed a god called Tu was responsible for the war.
They believed that the god Tyu would help the warriors who expected him and when they died in battle, the god Tyu would come down from
Mount Tyu with the help of a group of women workers and take them to a beautiful place for rest. It is called Twice Days.
The old saying is now known as Tuesday.
Wednesday:
Northern Europeans believed the all-powerful god traveled in search of enlightenment and lost an eye for it.
So he always wore a tall hat to cover his eyes. Two black bird gods sat on Wooden’s shoulders as spies.
But at night the two birds went to the world and in the morning returned to Wooden and narrated the events of the night.
The ancients named a day of the week Wednesdays after the wooden bird. That name is known as Wednesday all over the world.
Thursday:
Ancient Europeans believed that Thor was the god of thunder and lightning.
They believed that when the god Thor was very angry, he threw a huge hammer into the sky
, and at that time he lived in a chariot driven by two goats.
The sound of the wheels of the goat-driven cart is the sound of thunder.
It seems ridiculous but it is true in that era.
In honor of the god Thor, they named a day Thursday, now known as Thursday.
Friday:
The ancients believed the goddess Frigg to be the goddess of love and marriage.
Frigg, the powerful god, and wife of Jinn were very beautiful and gentle.
He who sat next to the gods and Jinn and watched over all things in the universe also ruled over nature.
The Frigg Days were named a day after the goddess Frigg, now known as Friday.
So far we have learned about the names of the twelve months and the names of the weeks.
Now let us try to know about the calendar.
Without counting we cannot do even a day’s work properly. (SS)
Ancient Calendar:
A calendar is very important in calculating time. It has been valued since ancient times.
Even in ancient times, people have put a lot of thought into making calendars.
Its form has changed in different civilizations and eras. A beautiful calendar can also enhance the decoration of the office or home.
A glance at the pages of the calendar hanging on the wall gives us an idea of the days and dates of the year.
It is also known which day of the month there is a holiday, urgent work can be done, or where there is a program to go out for fun.
We know very little about what the calendar was like in prehistoric times, and how time was calculated.
However, as a result of extensive research, a lot of information has also been found about it.
In very ancient civilizations, the method of measuring and calculating the duration of months, seasons, and
years was introduced from the position and movement of various celestial bodies such as the moon, sun, planets, and stars.
Archeology in Europe, i.e. the research of various signs and remains of the ancient era, it is known that 20 thousand years ago,
there was a practice of making a calendar or calendar by cutting a kind of bottle on wood, stone, and bone.
These materials were also used in teaching. Chad’s periodic position was important for this work at that time.
Around 5,000 years ago, the Sumerian civilization developed in the region of Iraq, and the Babylonian civilization based on the cycle of Chad was in use.
Ancient American Mayan groups also calculated the time of year based on the cycles of the moon, sun, and planets.
Today we use the English Gregorian calendar which is used in almost all countries of the world.
Apart from this calendar, around 40 types of calendars are being used in different parts of the world.
How is the original Hijri year?
A large part of the world’s population calculates the Hijri year. In Bengal, the Hijri year is equally important along with the Christian year.
The two biggest major festivals of Muslims take place during the Hijri calendar.
In addition, all religious ceremonies and customs including the holy Ramadan, and Shabakdar are done by counting this Hijri year meaning lunar month.
This Islamic Hijri year was introduced to commemorate the landmark event of Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina in 622.
The Hijri year or lunar year is best known as the Islamic year around the world.
The Hijri year is the most ancient in our world. With the spread of Islam in the subcontinent, the practice of the Hijri year began in this country.
According to historians, the Hijri year was officially recognized in the subcontinent for about 550 years.
The practice of this Christian year started in our subcontinent during British rule.
There are two main ways of counting years worldwide. One is the solar year and the other is the lunar year.
The solar year is determined by the annual motion of the sun and the lunar year is calculated by the motion of the moon.
There are clear guidelines for counting years in the Holy Qur’an. The declaration of Allah, surely, from the day
the heavens and the earth were created, and there are twelve months in counting the months according to Allah’s decree (Surah Tawba-36).
How came this Hijri:
Chad is associated with the Hijri year. Hazrat Umar, the second caliph of Islam, completely introduced the Hijri year.
During his caliphate, Hazrat Umar showed that only the name of the month was written to write the date in official documents.
Since the Muslim community had no year of its own, there was no other way but to mention the name of the month according to Arab customs.
Due to not writing specific dates, the problems and complications in the government work of the huge Islamic empire started to increase.
To resolve this complication, Hazrat Umar (RA) deeply felt the need to invent a perfect and traditional year.
He emphasized on the invention of a new lunar year in a consultation meeting of Sahaba Ekram and prominent people including Hazrat Osman, Hazrat Ali, and Abdullah Ibn Samud (RA).
As a method of calculating the new year, the respected people in that consultation meeting proposed 6 significant events in the life of Rasulullah (PBUH).
They are 1) the birthday of Hazrat Muhammad,
2) the day of his death,
3) the day of the revelation of Prophethood,
4) Badr Battle Day,
5) Makkah Conquest Day, and
6) Hijra Day from Makkah to Madinah.
Hazrat Ali and Hazrat Osman played an important role in that consultation meeting.
Finally, remembering the importance of Hijra and its historical significance, it was proposed to introduce the Hijri year starting from the year of Hijra.
The Hijri year starts from the holy month of Muharram according to the Arab tradition at that time.
The month of Zilhaj is marked as the last month. This historic decision was taken 16 years after Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina.
Since then, the Islamic year Hijri year, and lunar year started counting.
